Asuka Langley Soryu - Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo
Classified Informations: Asuka Langley Soryu - Second Children
Asuka Langley Soryu is the pilot of Eva Unit-02. Although her nationality is American, she is ¼ German and ¼ Japanese. She graduated from a German university at the age of fourteen.
Asuka’s mother, Kyoko Zeppelin Soryu, carried out a contact experiment with an Eva. As a result, she fell prey to a mental illness so severe that she could no longer recognize her own daughter.
Not long after her mother’s contact experiment with the Eva, Asuka was selected by the Marduk Institute to be the pilot of Eva-02.
When Asuka’s mother carried out the experiment with the Eva’s core, only part of her soul — the maternal component that loves her daughter above all else — remained within Eva Unit-02. This is why she could not recognize her daughter.
